Tesco Beckton Dot Com is a defining example of a modular solution being created and delivered by Johnson with their strategic modular partners YORKON through the design and build process. In conjunction with our client Tesco, this unique solution was developed to provide extra warehouse space by way of relocating and expanding the home shop area and by the modification of the exiting canopy sited within the service yard to increase vehicle manoeuvrability.

The project involved special probing techniques being undertaken early in the design stage to establish ground conditions as the area was thought to contain unexploded munitions from world war II. Excavated material was re-graded on site rather than removed due to the  contamination levels of the substrate. A gas membrane was introduced to the substructure to negate the high gas levels.

The project was constructed in the vicinity of a high voltage pylon. Accordingly the operations were planned in great detail to comply with the regulations required when working adjacent to national grid plant. The use of fork lifts to install the modular units and steel canopy provided  a great solution to logistics in this situation.

The Tesco site delivery team of Geoff Terry, Mark Dean and Mike Pyecroft supported by Johnson's office staff, have delivered a number of great projects for our company.
